METALLICA

Metallica é uma banda estadunidense de heavy metal formada em 1981, na cidade de Los Angeles, Califórnia. Fundada quando o baterista Lars Ulrich colocou um anúncio no jornal Recycler, de Los Angeles. A formação original do Metallica consistia de Ulrich na bateria, guitarrista e vocalista James Hetfield, guitarrista Dave Mustaine e baixista Ron McGovney. Estes dois últimos foram mais tarde substituídos da banda, em favor de Kirk Hammett e Cliff Burton, respectivamente. Em setembro de 1986, o ônibus de turnê da banda perdeu o controle e capotou, o que resultou em Burton sendo esmagado sob o ônibus e morrendo. Jason Newsted o substituiu menos de dois meses depois. Newsted deixou a banda em 2001 e foi substituído por Robert Trujillo, em 2003.
